Project Report - 15 Carlow Way, Hazlet New Jersey - Install
on 6/29/2010
The project consisted of installation of a 6 zone 29 head custom irrigation
system that would also water the owners vegetable garden and border plantings. We
installed the Rain Bird system, which included 9 Rain Bird 5000 rotary
sprinkler heads, 20 Rain Bird 1800 pop-up heads, one valve box to control the
zones and a Rain Bird ESP-12 automatic timer.
We also cut out all damaged areas of existing lawn, leveled the ground,
lime and fertilizer applied and sodded 40% of the existing lawn. Since
this was installed during a drought with temperatures reaching 100+ degrees
during the day, we set the controller to water 3 times per day for approximately
25-30 minutes per zone.
As you can see the sod has taken nicely, blended with existing lawn and any minor
cuts in the lawn made during installation have already been mended. This lawn
is now the greenest on a block where most lawns have been burned out from
the sweltering heat. Watering will now be reduced to 2 times per day
for 20 minutes and in another week or two to every other day, depending on weather
conditions.
